¾ cup shortening
1½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
¼ cup water
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup whole wheat flour (may substitute 1 cup regular flour)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp soda
2 cups uncooked oats
1 cup wheat germ
½ cup flour
Put shortening, sugar, egg, water, and vanilla in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients and add to shortening mixture. Mix well, blend in oats and wheat germ. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 350° for 12-15 minutes.
