½ cup oleo
½ tsp soda
1 cup chopped nuts
½ cup Crisco
½ tsp cream of tartar
3 eggs
3 cups flour
¼ tsp salt
2 cups brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Cream shortening, butter, sugar, well. Add eggs and vanilla and stir vigorously. Add flour mixture of flour, soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Stir well. Add nuts. Divide dough into three parts. Roll in wax paper, place in refrigerator overnight. Slice thin and bake 350° for 10 minutes. (Rolls keep several days for fresh cookies a few at a time.)
