2 cups dry bread chunks
¾ cup sugar
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
4 cups scalded milk
1 tbsp butter
4 slightly beaten eggs
1 cup chocolate chips
Soak bread in milk for 5 minutes. Add sugar, butter, and salt. Pour slowly over eggs. Add vanilla and mix well. Pour into 1½ quart baking dish. Add 1 cup chocolate chips. Bake in a pan of water until firm (about 1 hour).
