2 tbsp Crisco
½ tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
¼ tsp salt
½ cup sugar
1 egg well beaten
1½ tsp baking powder
½ cup milk
Cream shortening, add sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla and egg. Beat until very smooth (8″ square or 9″ round). Grease and flour pan. Bake 350° for 30-40 minutes. (Use to make as an upside-down cake.)
